About the Fazli Center for Business Leadership Development (FCBLD)

FCBLD is a demand-driven research institute established with official approval from the Board of Directors of the University of Tehran on May 17, 2024. The Center was founded as a comprehensive model of collaboration between the University of Tehran — a symbol of higher education in Iran — and Golrang Industrial Group — one of Iran’s leading industrial and technology-driven conglomerates.
In this framework, Golrang Industrial Group serves as the Center’s strategic supporter, providing an enabling environment for the growth and professional development of students and young managers, without seeking any financial gain. Meanwhile, the University of Tehran contributes the intellectual foundation and academic networks that support this industry-adjacent research institute.

Philosophy and Foundational Model for Developing Leadership’s knowledge and Skills

The Center’s learning model is grounded in the theory of Double-Loop Learning, originally developed by Chris Argyris in the 1960s. Since its introduction, this theory has been widely adopted in academic environments and professional discourse as a foundational framework for organizational learning and development.

Double-Loop Learning focuses on how individuals and organizations learn from their mistakes and improve their effectiveness. In Single-Loop Learning, the emphasis is placed on detecting and correcting errors within existing frameworks, processes, and policies in order to improve performance. In contrast, Double-Loop Learning challenges the underlying assumptions, beliefs, and governing values that give rise to those errors. While Single-Loop Learning seeks to solve problems within the existing framework, Double-Loop Learning questions and transforms the framework itself.

The fundamental logic underlying the Center’s services and programs is based on continuous learning at the individual, team, and organizational levels. Learning takes place through both Single-Loop Learning — enhancing efficiency through problem-solving — and Double-Loop Learning — strengthening effectiveness through reflection on and reassessment of core goals, values, and governing principles.
