The Community of Practice: The Identity of the Iranian Business Leaders Club

Leadership development, from the perspective of the Business Leaders Club, involves the application of communication and social systems designed to establish connections for peer-to-peer learning aimed at leadership development. Research has shown that leadership learning often and primarily stems from social learning. If we view this club as a COP, its core concept points to the application and utilization of learning in the field of practice. The design and cultivation of learning communities are explicitly linked to social learning as a core feature of a leadership development program. Certainly, understanding learning within a business-related leadership development program will necessarily be possible through the participatory role of business owners. Hence, one can discern the important role of this club and its community of peers in advancing and creating business leadership development skills. In fact, the program of the Business Leaders Club is to create a form of participation in the shape and format of a learning community.
COPs can be regarded as enablers of inter-organizational learning. Although their work is not explicitly related to management education, their efforts influence the transfer of knowledge both between organizations and within organizations. Effective learning involves participation and collaboration across various boundaries and domains.

The relationship between the activities of the Iranian Business Leaders Club and the strengthening of leadership skills in students as future business leaders

Effective leaders must possess a set of leadership skills, including business acumen, the will to lead, motivation, self-confidence, integrity, and emotional stability. An individual can acquire a range of talents through participation in any organization anywhere in the world that contribute to the development of their leadership qualities. One opportunity for students to discover and test their leadership skills is through membership in the Iranian Business Leaders Club. To date, insufficient attention has been paid to the role of students and student groups in helping to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies of students as future leaders in the field of business development. The Business Leaders Club provides a space that largely bridges this gap.
Given the focus on students as future leaders, membership in the Iranian Business Leaders Club can, through the aforementioned points, help develop leadership skills in students.

Activities such as membership in the club can provide a space where students can practically apply and reinforce the knowledge gained in the classroom.

2- Building community and personal growth:

Clubs act as small, welcoming communities where students can express themselves, cultivate their strengths, and experience a sense of shared ownership. These experiences contribute to their growth as caring and empathetic individuals.

3- Leadership Development:

Participating in clubs allows students to identify and strengthen their leadership qualities. These environments provide a platform for practicing those effective leadership behaviors that require a focus on behavioral and skill-based competencies.

4- Improving Communication and Social Skills:

In addition to leadership development, membership in such clubs also enhances interpersonal and social skills, which are essential for success in various environments.

5- Creating a Space for Personal Development:

In their various activities, student leaders need environments to improve their leadership skills. While existing training often focuses more on theoretical aspects, the need for practice and the practical application of leadership skills is felt within these groups. Therefore, participation in the club provides this opportunity for them.
